We provide swimming and water safety lessons for children with disabilities from three charitable organisations in Hoi An, Quang Nam Province (Children’s Hope in Action, Hearing & Beyond and The KIANH Foundation).

Teachers from Swim Vietnam deliver lessons once a week for one hour with assistance from these charities’ own staff

Training is given to staff of these groups on how best to teach these children water safety and swimming skills. Drowning is a major issue in Vietnam for all children, particularly those with a disability, and specifically children with autism as they are often attracted to water.

Swimming is wonderful for all children, but for those with special needs or physical disabilities, the benefits are truly remarkable. It helps strengthen muscles, allows for ease of movement in bodies that may struggle on land, boosts their confidence, and opens up a whole new sensory experience that engages all their senses

We will investigate opportunities for disability groups in other locations in rural areas (Central Vietnam), train swim teachers where we have pools in these areas to assist in establishing and providing swim programs in these locations for their community.
