25th July is Global Drowning Prevention Day. Over 300,000 people drown every year, and more than 90% of drowning deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, with children and adolescents in rural areas disproportionately affected.
Since Swim Vietnam started in 2008 the drowning rates in Vietnam have reduced significantly. However, 5 children still drown in Vietnam every day and most of these deaths are preventable. Your support has helped us achieve amazing things. Swim Vietnam is still working every day to help to reduce these rates by running survival swimming lessons, delivering water safety education, training teachers, and showing others how to run effective swim programs, Please find our attached report on the first six months of 2025. We still desperately need your support. We have been struggling to get our funding back to what it was pre-covid and every penny you donate goes to preventing drowning in Vietnam. We are looking for corporate sponsors for our rural pools so if you work for a company with charitable giving please let us know.
